grace and old smells

I moved out today. Into a half a master bedroom of a friend from
church's rental house in se portland. It smells a little werid but it's
newish. I moved out of my old bedroom in my parents house. It smells
dusty now. 🙂 Rachel and I went and looked at some apartments
afterward. In se portland they were old and musty. But not too small.
Well one was kinda cozy and ok. But we are still looking.
I've been reading a book with articles by Rich Mullins. (thanks
Jennifer!) I wish I could write so poetically and still be so poignant.
Basically smells are like memories, or trigger memories anyway. But
some smells are new to you and so don't trigger anything, except maybe
memories of the future? hmm, I like that.
I suppose I'm feeling a bit faded today. But you know it's ok because,
God is good and grace is free. Always has been always will be. So as
the new year comes round and you remember the old smells of last year,
don't be afraid of the future. To borrow a Reliant K lyric
"The beauty of grace is that it makes life not fair."
I know this isn't too conherent. Too bad.
