Who named a rhubarb… a rhubarb! And who decided how to spell it!? And who decided to mix them with strawberries and make a pie out of them? I mean, an ugly red vegetable in a dessert??? In any case, Brian claims that these are one of his very favorite pies and I have promised to make one for him. We are going to have turkey dinner with his family tomorrow after church so I am going to grocery shop and bake today. I found a recipe http://pie.allrecipes.com/az/RhubarbandStrawberryPie.asp that has a zillion reviews and after reading about half, I am ready to attempt. Many of the comments said that the pie was their husband’s favorite, so it must be the right one! But really people – before I go to the grocery, tell me one thing….. what is a rhubarb anyway? *raises eyebrows* I guess I’ll find out when I get there and ask one of those nice people with Fred Meyer pins on.
So, did you know that I married into a family where two people are born within a couple weeks of Christmas? I mean, what were they thinking? Brian’s is Jan 8 and Tami’s is Dec…….. umm……. oh gosh… 27th or 28th I think. 🙂 Don’t worry mom Davis – I’ll ask Brian so we won’t forget. 😉 In any case, last night we used some of my birthday money and went out to dinner at a trendy restaurant in Sellwood – a neat Mediteranian restaurant called Caprielle Bistro (sp?). Didn’t taste really foreign, but we sat on couches and ate amazing food, enjoying this birthday treat. Today we are going to eat out again!!! Brian reserved a place for us on the Portland Spirit for lunch today so I get to experience a little Portland culture again. I love two-day weekends! 🙂
Will post pictures later…
p.s. Mom, what is Lori’s email address? puceemu@something….com???
p.p.s. Do we have her mailing address? I thought I’d send her a xmas card cuz she said if I was doing Christmas cards this year then I’d be an old fogey. 🙂
i haven’t had rhubarb since i was a little gal… maybe i should make a pie??? oh… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhubarb
