Gloriously long weekend

Because we got a long weekend now and our anniversary is next month Rachel and I decided to celebrate by doing all sorts of crazy stuff this weekend. 🙂

Firstly we stayed up until 11:30 or so playing computer games. My latest is Master of Magic, Rae still plays Civ 3.

Saturday we slept in and in the beautiful sunshine of the afternoon I zipped down to home depot, loaded 8 12 foot 2x6s (thats right 12 stinkin feet, I don’t think our car is even that long) into our little subaru sedan, to build these!

They are 8×4 by 12 inch tall and will sit near the house along the wall. That spot gets the most sun and is about the best place to grow anything in our yard. While I did this Rachel had her own way of enjoying the sunshine, by raking up the mess of branches that have fallen over the winter. (Razzie enjoyed it by running around like a crazy dog)

As you can see there are no spruce trees in our yard anymore, the windstorm got one, and the wild roaming chainsaws got the other. Rough year for spruces!

On saturday evening we got all dressed up and went up to our favorite greek place in Sellwood. Eleni’s Estiatorio!

Isn’t she gorgeous?

Today we slept in again and then went to Elmer’s for brunch, target for baby shopping, and then mucking about in the yard and the garage for a while (my lights work again, yahoo!). But the absolute best part is that tomorrow, I don’t have to go to work again!

I leave you with that and a song that I have decided is my theme song. Enjoy!
