quote of the month

This is probly the best/funniest thing I’ve heard in a while. Piper says: People are not helped by a Christianity that tries to cover up it’s weirdness. …it’s wildly weird! It’s so wildly weird, it’s true.

He was talking about prayer at the time. He says words to the effect of: we are not in control of the world, God is. So, are we going to tell Him how to run things? I don’t think so. But He tells us to ask Him. Ask and you shall receive. He loves to do things for His children when they ask Him. You have not because you ask not. It’s a little thing I like to call: weird.

I love it. Almost every time I’ve heard someone try to explain prayer I come away more confused. Piper begins by talking about communion with God through His word. Meaning, reading the Bible and asking God to speak through it. Communion, Piper says, is the place to start. Through communion God will grow our faith and enable us to pray. Then Piper’s opening remark about prayer is: it’s weird. Makes me feel alot better about not understanding. I’m looking forward to hearing the rest of the talk. It’s downloadable here:http://www.monergism.com/thethreshold/articles/bio/johnpiper.html and probly other places.

    Hey Rachel,
You really should put more pics up…. I love looking at sweet Anna she is just so adorable.. and pics of you and Brian kissing, I love looking at them. They are just so cute. You should get Austin and Melissa over and take pics of all you together. and the couples kissing. What a great idea. I know I’m so smart.
