My girls

It was pointed out recently by a rather astute 9 year old that I am the only boy in my home and I have been pondering this lately. I live with 4 females, 3 of which are generally begging for my attention and 2 of which usually go around without clothes on. While this may sound like every man’s dream come true I want to you to know that it’s not always a bed of roses.

Take last night for example: normally when I get home from work I am greeted enthusiastically by my wife, daughter, and little dog. Last night I returned home late due to a conference call and was greeted only by Razzy. When I went in the living room I found Anna quietly playing on the floor and Rachel lying on her face on the couch too sick to move. She ate a little dinner, threw that up and went to bed. She was up off and on all night, and has been only a little better today. Anna in the mean while has developed a slight fever, but has been very cuddly all day. Needless to say I am home from work today taking care of my girls. Especially the 3 that care a rats whisker about me. I take care of the cat too, but in her case, my efforts are rewarded by her NOT trying to eat my face at 3 in the morning. I’m not sure you could call that a sign of affection…

I love my girls. (except maybe the cat) Anna slept on my chest today in the easy chair. So warm and cuddly, what’s not to love? But some days I wish there was a little more testosterone around here to balance things out. I really hope someday to have two boys. Yep two. So that I can call them “my sons.” What the Lord has in mind I don’t know but that’s my plan. Two boys would nicely balance us out. 🙂

In the mean time when I need that jolt of testosterone, I pull out my new 8 pound splitting maul and chop some wood in tiny little pieces.

Aw, I’m so sorry to hear that Rachel is so sick and that Anna has a fever! I hope Rachel gets better asap and that Anna doesn’t get any worse. I also hope that you don’t get sick now too. You are being such a great hubby and daddy, staying home to take care of your girls. 🙂 Praying for you all.

I’m up and moving again! Yesterday was very icky for me. Anna has continued to be sweet and cuddly and sleepy with a mild fever. She is pretty cute when she sits and stare at you or lays on one of her favorite blankies. I predict she will be back to her speedy self tomorrow. (She seems to “feel” fine! Just quiet and tires easily.)

I’m so glad to hear that you are feeling better, I’ve been thinking of you. I’m so glad Brian stayed home with you, it so so hard to take care of a baby when you are so sick like that. And I’m really glad that Anna isn’t any worse. Although I wish she hadn’t had a fever at all, it is kind of a blessing that she was like that while you were sick (quiet, sleepy and cuddly) :).
Big hugs to all 3 of you! (well maybe just a pat on the shoulder for Brian! 😉 )
