If I ever chastise you for being too busy, throw the nearest couch cushion at me.

We finished our adoption homestudy and are just waiting for our match and placement. It could be some time, but we don’t know! We are nearly finished with our foster care homestudy and could have children placed with us in as little as a few weeks. We don’t really know, but that’s what we need to prepare for. I am selling some baby clothes off craigslist for some profit – it is extremely slow profit, but it is at least profit.

Last Thursday we took a class called “Caring for the Medically Fragile Infant” that went from 8am-4pm an hour away from home. Friday morning, Anna and I went up to a friend’s house whose housecleaning had been ignored in order to pursue more imminent and urgent projects and who were having a birthday party the next day… and helped clean until 2pm, when I picked up two boys (ages 4 and 6) whose parents were having their 10th wedding anniversary. They stayed overnight and came with us the next day when we went up to help finish preparations for the big squirt gun birthday party. That ended at about 7pm (their house looked great!!) and we brought the boys home. Sunday we went to church, followed by a church meeting, followed by my best friend who moved to California’s son’s first birthday party up here. (His gift idea was to bring him a favorite book, kid or adult, and write a note to him in it telling him why it’s special.) We fell into bed exhausted Sunday night.

Yesterday I did laundry. Lots! Today I am bringing a meal to a friend with a newborn. Tomorrow I’m home. Thursday and Friday and Monday I am watching kids during the day while the dad’s at work and the mom is visiting family. Saturday I either have my California friend visiting or we’re taking my dad’s truck home to Molalla since we borrowed it to haul wood to our house (which there is still a big pile needing chopped.) Sunday we will probably go to church, but otherwise I hope to stay HOME. Next week is fairly open after Monday .

October is currently not busy, but we’ll see if that lasts. I know I have a long list of stuff needing done at home. Maybe we will schedule a life-saving day of chopping wood, mowing the lawn, pruning trees, doing dishes, grocery shopping, blah blah blah…. or sleeping. If only Anna was into that. 😉
