Remember the movie, “The Business of Being Born” that came out awhile ago? The message in that movie is that some things are done for pregnant women in a hospital setting due to financial gain for the hospital, rather than for true health reasons. Well, that’s not the only message, but that’s the one that explains the title. 🙂 The main course of action suggested in the movie to correct this trend, is to have educated moms and dads… who will ask for correct treatment any time their care deviates from that! Sounds simple! It really is.
More than being on a mission to talk other moms into homebirths, I would prefer other moms just educated themselves better instead of going in blind, trusting their nurse, doctpr and hospital policies and standard procedures.
