A Father’s Poetry

Music

By Brian Davis

shuffles along today’s toil
amidst crowds on this mortal coil
weary of tasks and times
meetings and mimes
bored to death by shuffled papers
still burns low life’s taper
ready to light the eyes
and carry away the sighs
to heights unknown
where an unearthly tone
composed of little voices
remind us of our choices
imagination sings
innocent learning brings
laughter and smiles
love’s tender warmth beguiles
and wiles away the gray
dour work of day
a child’s embrace
wife’s lovely face
this is the music in my soul
