Camping at Dorena Lake July 2008

Anna is in size 12 months most of the time. A few things are size 9 months or 18 months. I think that size “12” is size 9-12 months but I don’t think I’ll ever know. Every brand does things differently. She is still tall and lean but with a very round belly! 😀

So our first camping trip with a child is behind us! I think it was a success, but I can’t say for sure since I was so exhausted. Let’s see – I came down with a cold on Wednesday and we left Thursday. The first night the fireworks wend from about 11PM-2AM (so far as I am aware). These were big firecrackers, strings of firecrackers and what my dad called “m-80’s” I think. Friday night (4th of July) the forest service man left at 1AM and the fireworks went from 1:30AM-4:00AM about. I didn’t hear Saturday night’s fireworks.

Anna THANKFULLY slept through the night every night!!! She moved around on her bed (foam pad with blankets on top) considerably and sat up briefly now and then. The poor thing was about as exhausted as I was. She didn’t eat much and she took 2-5 brief naps every day. Her normal is 1-2 longer ones. I was very, VERY grateful to have my mom and other babysitters around to help keep an eye on her, since I was too pooped to easily follow her around all day long. (Unlike home, which has walls… she didn’t know where the edge of the campsite was and didn’t care all that much.) Sometimes we just stuck her in the tent for alone time, where she snuggled with her blankie, tried to look out the window, and emptied suitcases.

We had some great family time that included fishing (not catching), eating (not fish), visiting with friends (mumbling mean things to enemy firework people), waterskiing (i ididn’t go), kneeboarding (didn’t go either), and wishing we were asleep. At least I was. One of the best times for me was when Anna was napping and everybody was on the boat except for Mom, Melissa and I and we got to hear Melissa talking about her plans and hopes for the future and her most recent experiences at Ballet Magnificat in Mississippi. I am eager to visit with her again and see if there are any new developments. I am excited to see what happens with her in the next few years!!! (I’d share, but her plans were still so fresh, I’m not sure if she’s ready for the world to know yet)

Austin and Melissa
James (aka. Jimmy)
Barry and his girls Marley, Hadley and Lydia

Here’s the clean picnic table at the beginning of the trip. I should have taken a picture once everybody was there!

Anna with one of her favorite things – a water bottle! She loved to drink from them on her own… always making a big mess:

Isn’t her swim-suit just adorable?

I love the bow on the back!

On our way to go fishing – Anna’s first time in a boat!

No naps finally catching up with her:

Awwwww:

Driving the boat and messing with the depth-finder buttons! Fun!

Grandpa Chapman helps out and gets some special snuggle time:

Awwww!

Hadley and Lydia crowned Dad king! Or did they crown him queen?

Here are two short videos of Anna and Papa playing in the water:

Hope you enjoyed those! We are talking about going to Paulina Lake with Jake and Emily next weekend!

ADDED: Here are a bunch more awesome pictures from the weekend! You can see more of Anna, see the whole crew, see the kneeboarding – yay!
