Mexico #1

Howdy folks! We is back in good ‘ol, rainy ‘ol, green ‘ol, Oregon, land of the shiny cars, smooth roads and nasty imitations of that most heavenly of foods, tacos pescado. And I would like y’all to know that we are happy, healthy, and completely blown away by God’s sheer awesomeness.

As the week goes on I will be trying to recap some things from the Mexico trip and post some pictures. But firstly I just wanted to say buenos tardes, Rachel y yo es muy bueno. And I’m very sorry for all butchering of spanish that occurs here and henceforth. 🙂

God put together just the perfect group of people. As the week went on it was clear we each had assignments in Vicente Guererro. Rachel and I have been trying to get a mission trip going, first to Togo, then Uganda, and finally Baja, for well over a year. But God had other things in mind. He made us wait until the whole team was ready.

From left to right: John, Rachel, me, Tim, David, Beth, Heidi, Marcia, and Kathy. Jim didn’t seem to make into any of my group pictures but you’ll see him later no doubt. For everybody who prayed for us, thank you and gracias. God answered your prayers and ours. We learned much, worked hard, stayed healthy, and had a blast.

God told me two things that are stuck in my mind right now:

  1. “Listen to me and obey.”
  2. “My strength is enough for you.”

Hopefully I’ll be able to elaborate on those a little later on.

My verses for the week:
Romans 12:4-5

Now as we have many parts in one body, and all the parts do not have the same function, in the same way we who are many are one body in Christ and individually members of one another.

Hebrews 12:12-13

Therefore strengthen your tired hands and weakened knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated, but healed instead.

Gloria a Dios

so what’s with the “halo’s” on you and Rachel? Are those issued standard for team leaders? Keep writing 🙂

Yes and no. They aren’t standard issue, but they are exceptionally useful for team leaders. 😉
