Here is where we were when Mom and my wonderful midwives Kelly and Kelli arrived:
Contractions – ow!
Kelly and Kelli with their bags of goodies:
More contractions… more ouch! We went from contractions every 8 minutes for about an hour to contractions every 1-2 minutes for the rest of the labor.
I really liked the pool – my muscles were so tired from being on my hands and knees during contractions. The contractions took a short break (maybe 4 minutes?) which I was sooooooooo thankful for and then they were super intense again.
A very happy moment!!!!! I didn’t pick her up immediately as she came out so that we could get the cord from around her neck… but the cord was fairly short so she did a somersault under the water before we figured it out! No worries – she was under warm water and didn’t try breathing until I had her out for several seconds.
Meeting our precious second daughter:
No emergencies here. Melissa walked in immediately after she was born… only about one minute too late to see her birth:
A tired and happy Papa:
The adoring crowd:
Father of my children, my greatest support, my dear love:
Maggie cried very little and had very low muscle tone. We were worried about her struggling to breathe since she didn’t cry/cough much to get the mucus out of her lungs (she has been underwater for 9 months!). She had good color though so after an initial checkup, I nursed her for awhile and although she was still breathing wetly and not crying, she was moving around much more and nice and pink as you see here:
Moving her arms and being so sweet:
Anna slept through everything! I am so thankful for that. Since I felt like I was basically in transition for more than half the (very short) labor, I wouldn’t have been able to respond to her at all. Here she is coming to see that “Maggie came out!”
I’m not looking too cute, but Anna is. Brian and I had rested for an hour and a half at this point. Maggie was born at 2:51am and the midwives left about 5:30am… and this was about 7am.:
Mommy plus one:
Mommy plus two:
All four of us. And yes, Razzie is totally exhausted – she stayed up with us all night anxioiusly:
First visitor! Poppy came over on his way to work to meet his newest granddaughter:
And he didn’t forget about his first granddaughter, much to her joy:
Anna held Maggie for the first time and watched Mr. Rogers together:
My beautiful girls:
Wonderful. Absolutely wonderful!
So happy that things went smoothly! Can’t wait to come back up and see you all!
I am so glad that Brian put on his best clothes for the occasion!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. SO CUTE! And nice pics too! Way to go Rachel & Brian! What a great man you’ve got!!!!!!!! (And he’s got such a sexy birthing outfit!) 😉 Guy wants more pictures. More? More? MORE!
Yep poky-dot pajama pants, paint stained sweat shirts and pick boppies are the latest in birth attendance fashion.
Awe!
She’s so stinkin’ cute!
I can’t wait to meet her! I’ll be there in a week.
Congratulations, you guys!
I absolutely adore the pictures of Anna with her new baby sister. SO cute!
Personally, I love Brian’s choice of birth clothes. He is sexy in everything, but I can’t hardly keep away from him when he’s wearing snuggly comfy clothes. Mmmmmmmmmmm
Excuse me! This is a G rated blog! TMI 🙂
