The weekend:
Just after picking Brian up at work and packing quickly, we drove to Oregon City on Friday night. Melissa and Austin were on their way to the beach, mom and I went to the grocery and soon thereafter we all sat down to dinner. Mom, Dad, Sande, Brian, Barb, Rebecca and James and I did, that is. Barb is a hoot. I hope she reads this so she can happily respond to me calling her a hoot. She is! Rebecca is her new daughter (adopted) and is 10 and James is her grandson, 14 I think. We all had taco salad and the kids played with our puppy, letting her lick and lick and lick til their hair stuck up and their cheeks were pink. Very cute.
Saturday we got up early to my dad’s knocking on the camper window (where we were sleeping) and zipped down to Brian’s folks’ house by 6:10 AM. We left shortly thereafter and headed for Ashland to see a few plays at the Shakespeare festival. Jennifer revealed to me, that his name is not always spelled the same. We talked about the Islam classes Brian and I are taking at church. We discussed Muslims and the Middle East and Portland and the world. I think Jeff is going to try and make it to one of the classes. (They are this and next Tuesday evening in Hillsboro if you’re interested) We read the first act of The Tempest and yawned and stretched at the rest stops.
We got there before noon. We wandered about, admired the trees, eeewed the big spider on the fountain and then headed for the theatre to watch The Winters Tale. I won’t tell you the story, but I cried three times and it had a happy ending. Isn’t that wonderful? We proceeded from there to a yummy dinner and then down to stand in the creek because it was HOT outside. We talked about work, life, future, kids, adoption, health, personalities and listened to the wind rustle the leaves and the water bubble and splash.
Then we watched The Importance of Being Ernest and spend two hours in stitches. Some of us nearly quite exploded! My hair does not curl naturally and I like sugar in my tea. hehehe Too much fun.
Well, I had to write something about the weekend because it was really amazing and fun, but I need to go clean up the mess that we dropped on the table and in the living room. So, until further we meet, adieu!
Probably not four or more lumps of sugar though.
