We had a great week!

Brian has been working extra hours for weeks, saving up hours. Over the 4th of July weekend, when he got a day off work for the holiday, we used up the extra “credit hours” and Brian only worked one day last week! It was AWESOME to have my handsome hubby home so much! We primarily spent our time doing some much anticipated yardwork, but we also went to my family’s house for the 4th of July and to the Beach too! Pictures of the updated yard (drip system, herb/tea garden, fruit trees) will come later… all of which we (mostly Brian) did between 6am and 11am on account of the heat. For now…..

Brian proving to Anna just how strong he is; lots of giggling involved:

Maggie eats my mom’s AMAZING strawberry pie with whip cream over Independence Day weekend. Sticky!!!:

I can see the family resemblance (and I don’t mean the strawberries on the face) in these close up pictures:

My sweet posing 3-year-old… who can eat strawberry pie and keep her face un-stickied (mostly).:

The 9-month-old’s sticky fingers… wow.

We went to Pacific City for the day on Saturday after hearing the fantastic idea from my parents who went with a biker gang – yes really! They graciously allowed us to use their beach house for naptime, which made the beach trip sooooo much nicer for these parents! And we got to have lunch with them too! What a treat! It was also nice to get away from the heat for a day!

The beach was PERFECT. The beach had a natural dip and then rise in it before the real breakers began, so there was a large shallow section with small waves for Anna to play in. It was slightly warmer too! It was like a kiddie pool in the ocean. Unlike our last trip, Anna was brave this time! Brian had to chase her down and haul her back to safer water a few times.

This beach trip was 90% for Anna. Some things we do for us, some thing we do for Maggie… this one was about the wonder of a small child discovering the world.

Charging through the waves!

And, behind the scenes I was holding the dog and taking pictures. 🙂

Studly lifeguard:

That salty ocean water and wind made some magnificent hair!

She may be getting big… but she’s still very small:

This is the beach that Brian proposed to me at nearly six years ago! We kept looking at each other and then looking at the girls and saying, “wow!” We all climbed up the big dune… what a trek! Anna made it to the very top on her own feet! Maggie, Razzie and I stopped at the lower “bench,” which was plenty far up.

Anna running at the ocean:

On an entirely different note, Anna has been pretending to cry and be sad for about twenty minutes now, because Bob (her friend in the drain plate reflection) died in the bath tonight. Death is a concept Anna is trying to understand. I don’t think she gets it yet. She says Bob will be better in about twenty minutes. And Bob is going to heaven. And coming back? Anyway.

THAT’S how the horizontal strap is supposed to go!!!! haha. I just have him sit on it, sort of. Now I know.
I used my Moby today. I hardly use it cause it makes me sweat and I hate having back sweat show through the little windows of the moby. But today I succommed to back sweat for the convenience of hands free shopping. BTW, Children’s Place has awesome sales…lots of $3 shirts, skirts for girls. And 40% off clearance and 25% off shoes. Worth a look. I got some shoes for Calvin when starts wearing shoes for $7.50 (size 7 haha, the sales lady thought i was getting them for him to wear NOW and goes, ‘these are a little big’ I said, ‘yah a little’ then she clarified, ‘he may still be wearing our infant size shoes hanging on the wall over there…’ haha.OHHH! I have two kids and I really thought that a size 7 would fit him. Right. :)I probably looked frazzled enough so that thinking I was that dumb wasn’t too much of a stretch.

LOL – I hate back sweat. It hasn’t been too warm here so it hasn’t been much of a problem. The lady at the clothes store thinking they were too big made me roll my eyes. Good grief!

For the wrap, I first do this: http://www.mobywrap.com/t-instructions.aspx#WrapInstructions
And then I do this, facing in or out: http://www.mobywrap.com/t-instructions-Hug.aspx
I got that from here: http://www.mobywrap.com/t-instructions.aspx

    Happy wrapping yourself up. 😉

I think you should buy Anna a few feeder gold fish to help teach the concept of dying. However, the one my mom bought me lasted like three years, even though I took it for a walk….
