VINNIE HAS A FAMILY!

Cross post from Vinnie’s blog:

I am so excited to share this with you!!!

Vinnie has a mama and papa coming for him and brothers and sisters waiting for him! It blesses my heart so much and brings such peace to my soul. It makes me feel SO GOOD. I can’t tell you who his family is quite yet, but will tell you soon! We have to wait for certain paperwork to get to certain places so everything is all official. And they probably want to tell their own family first too.

If you haven’t entered his giveaway yet or looked at the auction: head over now and bless the socks off of Vinnie’s family!!!

(I just love saying that! Vinnie’s family. VINNIE’s family. Vinnie’s FAMILY. Orphan no more.)

Cubbies

Isn’t this picture of our proud big girl just too cute? She’s memorizing verses like a champ. She needs Papa glued to her the entire cubbies time, but we are ok with that. She is coming home happy and proud and will eventually feel secure enough to say her verses directly to the leaders. We couldn’t be more proud of her!

Waiting for News

We have been in step with Shelley for awhile. We were ahead of her, then behind, and have been locked in step since our first trip. (We were “in country” at the same time.) He dossier has been sent to court! She is waiting to get her judge and praying for a court date soon. I hope our dossier is sent on to court soon! Praying for the Lord’s peace… praying!

Too much fun…

First – the not fun part. Pears. They were fun when I met them, but they are not fun now.

My tutorial for how to dry pears:
Get a reasonable number of large, ripe, worm-free pears. (not like me.)

Cut them into quarters along the core. (They are slippery when peeled… doing it this way is easier for people like me. Also, if taking a picture, make sure the pear does not have worms in it.)

Core it. Doesn’t take much to core a pear.

Turn the slice on its edge and cut into slices of equal diameter. (I do cut off the little bit on the end to make it flat… thicker pieces take longer to dry.)

Arrange on dehydrator. I don’t bother to treat with no-browning solution.

12 hours later – ta-da! Dry pears!

Pliable and chewy, but no damp spots left. (This one was a wedge shaped piece that dried with a thin side and a thick side… that’s why it has a crease)

I don’t want to see more pears. But I am wanting to go get apples to dry. I don’t learn too fast.

Anna went to her first night of Cubbies! She is very proud that she’s big enough to go! (We are also doing 30 minutes of sit-down school together now too, M-F!)

Fun time with Mommy the other day – making parfaits:

They chopped the pieces of pears and peaches themselves and scooped the yogurt.

I would be remiss if I did not post pictures from water fountains on here. It has been so hot this last week that we have spent lots of time at water parks!
It’s even been hot enough for the grown-ups to want to get wet!

I just love this girl to pieces:

Then on Sunday evening, we were able to get together with our “family” church and participate in the “Clang Show.” Somebody rings a clang if your act is so bad that you need kicked off the stage.

My favorite: Lip singing “Set my Soul on Fire”
That. was. awesome.

Kristi B. got some fantastic photos. Here I am introducing the Great Bamboozelini!

Here he is – The Great Bamboozlini himself!

It was a stubborn rabbit.

My parents are the awesomest. They sang a duet… “Yesterday, the Clang show seemed so far away…..”

I wish had pictures of the song and dance A&M did… so funny! Someday, I hope to be as cute as my sister.

Good to see everybody. In particular, we are happy to have seen Paul & Pam Hunter, home from their African home to rest and recuperate. They are busy in their African home loving on young men and women, being an intentional, much-needed father. Even when we grow into adults… we still need parents. The need for somebody to invest in your life never ends. Mom and Dad, I love you. I would love to spend more time with you, just talking about life. I’m missing Grandpa Daniel lately… wishing I could sit by his armchair and talk about life, love, and the character of God.
