Everywhere!!!

Maggie doesn’t go far yet, but it seems like she is everywhere! She is hard to hold onto while changing her clothes or diaper. She has a cold right now… and I really don’t understand how a nose so small can continuously produce so many boogers. It’s astonishing. I’m also looking forward to when she drools less and the rash on her neck goes away. It is a sort of yeast rash I think, from being damp all the time! After having a stomach flu, I am almost better! It feels SO NICE to walk around and eat a little and start attacking the dirty mess that our house was slipping into despite the hard work of my now-exhausted hubby.

We bought tomato plants tonight! And pickle cucumber plants and regular cucumber plants and a yellow crookneck squash. Happy day!

I ate toast this morning

Since I was able to eat a piece of toast this morning, I figured it was high time to take advantage of two coupon deals at Fred Meyer. This was all done at the self-check with a friendly cashier helper.

Transaction 1:
(2) Huggies size 1 packs for baby shower gifts: $8.99 each
= 17.98
-$1 Fred Meyer coupon
-$1 Fred Meyer coupon
-$3 printed internet coupon
-$3 printed internet coupon

Paid out of pocket: $9.98 and received a $3 off my next order printout. That’s $3.49 a pack

Transaction 2:
(2) Huggies size 1 packs for baby shower gifts: $8.99 each
= 17.98
-$1 Fred Meyer coupon
-$1 Fred Meyer coupon
-$3 printed internet coupon
-$3 printed internet coupon
-$3 from previous transaction

Paid out of pocket: $6.98 and received a $3 off my next order printout.

Transaction 3:
(1) Huggies size 2 pack (for Maggie)
(1) Huggies newborn pack
= 17.98
-$1 Fred Meyer coupon
-$1 Fred Meyer coupon
-$3 printed internet coupon
-$2.50 coupon from the mail
-$3 from previous transaction

Paid out of pocket: $7.48 and should have received a $3 off my next order printout… I’ll have to email the catalina company to request one mailed to me.

Transaction 4:
(10) Gerber 3rd food jars at $.70 each
(2) Gerber 2nd foods with DHA tubs at $1.50 each
(1) Gerber 2nd food jar at $.50 each
=11.90

-$1.00 off 6 Gerber 3rd food jars
-$1.00 off 4 Gerber 3rd food jars
-$.50 off 2 Gerber with DHA tubs
Should have been able to use the $3 catalina from the last diaper deal. 😛

Paid out of pocket: 9.40 and recieved a $4 and a $1 off my next order. That’s $5.40 for all that baby food… or just over $.30 per jar or tub

Transaction 5:
(14) Gerber 2nd food tub packages at $1.00 each
(1) Gerber 2nd food jar at $.50 each
=$14.50

-$1.00 off 6 Gerber 2nd food tubs
-$1.25 off 8 Gerber 2nd food tubs
-$1 from previous transaction
-$5 from previous transaction

Total out of pocket: $7.25 and a $4 off my next order printed out.
$14.50-1-1.25-4=$8.25… I spent about $.30 per tub of that baby food. I hope that’s the last of the baby food I have to buy for Maggie! She eats a lot of table food, so this is our convenience food. I’ll spend the last $4 catalina on groceries.

Aches and Boogers and Maggie growing up

Seven months, five days old and…. Maggie is crawling and she pulled herself to standing twice today! That’s a first! Today she definitely took off on crawling; it wasn’t just a few ‘steps’ but was continuous all day. She is hesitant and she is slow, but she is moving! And then we went to check on her crying in her crib and found her like this!!!!

Time to move the mattress down already!

This cutie has us in trouble! She has already crawled over to Anna and tried to take toys from her several times. Sorry Anna, the sharing part of your life has begun! I think we’ll make some sort of Anna only box for things that she doesn’t have to share, but everything else will be fair game.

Anna woke up with a runny nose, Maggie woke up with a gravely voice and I ache so that I hurt all over. I went to visit my Mom today to get a little special Mom and Dad time. It was good to be there and be together, but the needy children and everything kept us from visiting much. Mom did send us home with some bread dough though… YUM!

Thank you Mom! I love you! Happy Mother’s Day!

Ushering in a New Era

First of all, my friend Sarai had her baby (at last!) yesterday evening at a birth center, but had to transfer to a hospital after birth to observe her baby boy. We are not sure yet whether he is suffering from seizures or not, but we are praising God that he is breathing on his own now and has generally improved.

You know it’s safe to retire the bath sponge when you have the baby laying on it one second, blink, and see her like this the next.

Museum & Chairs

Here’s a wonderful honest shot from the Children’s Museum on Tuesday! I went with my friend Vanessa who refreshed me spiritually and practically.
