Wordless Wednesday

Only it’s not wordless. But it could be.

This is a drawing Anna brought to show me of Papa (the big person) and Anna (the little person). Anna is pooping on the potty. “See the poop Mommy?” Yes, sweetie, indeed I do.

Her drawing one of Papa pooping.

Making finger paint. This is the paint before adding color. Cool, huh?

Gave Maggie a bottle last night – she held the bottle herself!

And lastly – Maggie cracking us up before bedtime by talking into a kazoo.

Maggie’s Feet

I tried to capture the wonderful pudginess of Maggie’s little feet. Didn’t know that toes could have fat rolls on them? Experience the joy!

Maggie – 5 months

march_2010 011 (Small)

It seems like Maggie has hit a whole slew of milestones this last week or so. So many new expressions and firsts!

She started sucking hard on her lower lip, which is really cute, especially when she tries to talk at the same time.
She has been preaching baby sermons, oh so cute.
When I hold her upright and carry her around, she has so much new control over her upper body and leans back to look at me, leans over to look at the floor or to just experiment.
When I lay her down somewhere… she is never there when I come back. With slight turns done by scooting and squirming and multiple rolls, she is all over the place.
When she sees a toy she wants, she works to get to it and often succeeds.
I bought some baby food and she is chowing down like there’s no tomorrow.
She learned how to pass toys back and forth between her hands.
She just found her feet last night!
She has been just staring at her own hands for a day or two.

Another growing edge: learning to draw more than scribbles:

What a Day!

This morning we slept IN. That’s right. Nobody woke up at 5:30. Nobody woke up at 6 or 6:30. Well, actually, Anna DID wake up at 6:30. I told her she could go read books on the couch after she went potty. She must have, because she didn’t come back in again until 7:10. That’s right. I was in bed from 9pm (which is an hour late for me) until 7am. Sweet. And I only got up once with Maggie. I would love if that continued. 😀

We then went to the library and fed the ducks and walked around for an hour in beautiful sunshine. Maggie napped in her carrier and we had a blast. Then we got our cultural pass (free) at 10am when the library opened and headed to the Children’s Museum!

Parking was an adventure, but we managed to squeeze into a parking spot and all get out of one of the sliding doors that had the most room. Anna was overwhelmed and also very excited at the Children’s museum. There was so much cool stuff there! So much to learn by hand’s on trying. Anna was her shy, careful self, but she got into things at her own pace and had a good time. Maggie took another nap in the carrier.

We then drove to a family get together with Aunt Linda and other family and family friends for a BBQ lunch.

Just got home. No more energy for writing. Maggie is crying in her crib and it’s getting to me enough that I can’t form sentences any more. But all is well. Had a great day.

Buns and Chocolate Cake

First of all, I haven’t embarrassed Maggie with a bare-bum picture yet, so it’s time for the naked escaping baby picture! (Was in the middle of the diaper change and she decided to roll off to play with toys.)

And now the Molten Chocolate Lava Cake.

Oh so lovely:

This one is a little more molten than it should be. Anna will eat it later:

And now a little homeschooling for ya. First, we got a pint (just two cups) of heavy whipping cream. We divided it between two pint jars. We shook it. We shook it until it wouldn’t shake any more. Literally. Each of the pint jars was FULL of thick whipping cream. Next time we’ll have to do something different. At this point I googled making butter and we scraped our whipped cream into the blender and it RAPIDLY became butter and milky liquid. I had no idea so much butter was in two cups of cream. But yeah. It’s been fun to eat butter on crackers and toast and everything. We are very healthy here. Butter and chocolate. Oh yeah.
