Good day when…

It’s a good day when I can stand in the living room with my hands FREE and take pictures of my girls doing this:

I had a great time at the women’s retreat with my mom, sister, her baby and another 20 or so ladies from my old church. Maggie slept well at night and it was amazing to have somebody (usually my mom!) to hold Maggie SO MUCH. I could take as long as I wanted to eat, take a shower whenever I was ready and just generally enjoyed the additional freedom.

Anna went to Brian’s parents for Friday night and Saturday and came home happy as a clam and with two pairs of wonderful, WARM and adorable pairs of pajamas. She refuses to take them off. They are really one of the most wonderful things…. unlike warm footie pajamas which are hard to take off at night for goign to the bathroom, these are shirt and pants pajamas. (See the first picture on this blog – that was right before she wore them to Fred Meyers for a grocery stop.)

Brian and Austin and Dad went fishing together – caught one good trout, got cold and wet, ate hot dogs and then went back to Molalla to play Settlers. 😀 Good times.

The subject of the women’s retreat was something like, “How to understand and encourage your husbands” or could have also been called, “How to: respect.” I was thinking that I know all sorts of ways to express love and it upsets me when I’m not treated with love…. but respect is not so intuitive to me. I respect Brian more than he could possibly understand (the main reason why I married him, besides all his other wonderful qualities)… but what do I do to show it? I mean, a hug shows love… what shows respect? I’ve gotta say though, the easiest thing for me was thinking of the things that show DISrespect (like being bossy?)… so I’ll be working on not treating Brian like a two-year old, but treating him like my husband, the man of my life, the man of the house and the impressive stud that he is.

Time to go feed Maggie!

Maggie is asleep on her own…

That means nobody is holding her and she is still asleep. Yay! I have both hands and no carrier on… time to upload pictures and put them on the blog! I spend lots of time sitting on the couch snuggling with a sleeping newborn (how long can I call her a newborn?) and the rest of the time reading or sleeping.

Maggie’s first smiles… she may not be smiling ON PURPOSE, but she definitely was feeling good and happy at the time and experimented with great faces! Not many of you have seen her awake, so I’ll post all the pictures:

Papa and the girls all snuggled up looking cute (you’ve all seen these sweat pants a lot lately):

Great-Grandma Chapman came to visit!!! Maggie slept in her arms for over an hour (closer to two hours?) before I took the still-sleeping baby to feed her. Grandma said, “I’ve never heard of feeding a baby who wasn’t squalling before!” 🙂 We love our sleeping Maggie… if only she would sleep without being held. Oh well. 😀

Saturday morning was a beautiful day for a trip to the pumpkin patch! I love how having kids has taught me to enjoy “childish” pleasures again, like going to the zoo, scuffing my feet in the fall leaves, and going to a pumpkin patch! If only Anna enjoyed carving pumpkins that much… nah, that would steal the fun from Brian.

We went to a great place that has boats and farm animals, face-painting, mazes, and trains! What a blast!

15 acres of rotten pumpkins! 😀 (well, lots were rotten… suppose many of the good ones left already)

The pregnancy pose… post pregnancy. Maggie was GREAT. She slept the entire time without a peep or a stir and kept mommy warm!

Is this sweet or what? It should be an ad for the carrier.

Anna proudly holds her muddy pumpkin (that got everything dirty):

Starting to carve the pumpkins (they’re…. well, Brian is carving them right now so I don’t have pictures of the finished product yet):

Snugglebug

Maggie likes best to sleep upright against somebody’s chest. Good thing the recliner is pretty comfy to sleep in since that’s where we finally ended up early this morning. Since I don’t have a picture of that, here’s just another one!

oops, that was Anna… could you tell?
