Sande came out yesterday and we redid the living room! It’s amazing what that woman can do. We are going to paint the walls taupe, but not right away… we’ve got the garage work to do first. It already looks like a different place! What’s more, Austin came out and between he and Brian, they installed the woodstove! Incredible. We did so much yesterday! We were all pooped out last night… even Anna. (which is actually bad, because she has a harder time falling asleep when she’s really tired.) Anna was a gem all day – just playing and cooing and being adorable while Sande and I tore the house apart.
Here are pictures!
Anna being cute while Austin and Brian work on making the hole up there big enough for a stovepipe:
Smiles! She’s so proud of herself for sitting!
Razzie… just thought she was cute laying on top of the couch by the window. She was woooooorn out after playing with Sande’s Pugshu (Pug/Shiatsu) puppy.
Firstly, here are a few pictures of what it looked like beforehand for those of you who don’t live here:
Ta-da!!! Please forgive the bad color in almost all of these. It’s the photographer’s fault. Behind the couch is the laminate that is going to go in the garage. I think it’s going to get replaced with a small table when that’s gone.
Here is computer corner beside the door. Thank you Grandma and Kevin for the wall-hangings. They look wonderful here and I really love the prayer by St. Francis Assisi:
Cat and dog on couch:
Brian in the corner “chair.” The mirror will be hung there when we get around to it. :-):-)
I especially like this little bit of the room – horsey stuff!
Back corner of room with the blanket Grandma Chapman made me for my high school graduation.
Here is the woodstove! Sorry for the glare on the picture – it is a wall-hanging from Grandma C. The woodstove looks pretty sharp, if I do say so myself!
Fire!
And here are Anna and I snuggling while she is still sleepy from a nap this evening:
Thank you Sande!
looks gre(A+)t! anna’s looking more and more ladylike these days 🙂
it looks just lovely! and anna is getting cuter by the minute!!!
Looks vunderbar! Congrats to the two decorators. 🙂
Everything looks so great! I can’t wait to come see it in person!
I’m curious what does the prayer by St. Francis of Asissi say? (Josh’s father who passed away last year 🙁 was named after that saint, so when I saw that wall hanging I thought it might be something Josh would appreciate. I might steal your idea for our home.
Hi Chelsea – instead of going and copying it down, I found it in google: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prayer_of_Saint_Francis It reads:
Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
Amen.
P.s. I do calligraphy (so-so) and have some big white paper if you want me to do it… you’d need to frame it, though (the expensive bit!)
ooo lookes nice! and a fire?? how romantic! send anna off to gma’s for the night and even going out to wendy’s is a nice date with a fire to come home to! lucky!!!
em
ok, now my comments on anna…she is so BIG! not like huge or fat, but old! and sitting. she does look so cute all cuddly and warm and sleepy still…awe cuddle bug.
guy is so cute too when he’s all cuddly. he had the HUGEST smile this morning. it was so cute. i need to have a camera installed in my eyeballs so i can take pictures whenever i want. It was a big open mouth smile. hee!
today seems like a good day for him as far as naps go, but he’s got the toots too so he may be rather crabby. he woke up at 6:30 when jake slammed the door twice (he came back to take out the trash so it’s hard to be upset) and came to sleep with me so i could hold his passafier in until 9. watched me make breakfast and went back to sleep in his swing at 10 until jake came home at 10:30 fell back to sleep with jake playing football.woke up at 11:30 when jake had to leave for berkeley. went back to sleep at noon on the bed while i was getting ready for a walk…walk cancelled. so YEAH! he’s sleeping! until next week with the terrible 6week-old curse.
i should have posted this on my blog. i still will. 🙂
off to trying to finish my birth story for our bradley teacher.
i think i have sympathy pimples…i had them before he was born cause i knew he’d have them and i’ll have them after the 6 week stage is over cause i know he’ll have them again in a few more years. i am a VERY sympathetic person. very. 🙂
yah. i know you see enough crying…i thin kthat in pictures his crying looks better than in person so iwill look at his pictures instead of him when he’s screeming at me 😉 jk.
my birth story is taking for ever cause i keep remenbering different things that i had previously forgotten. like a lot of things. eventually will i forget the whole thing? i hope so.
hey Rachel
your house is looking so good. Hope your doing well. hugs
Coolio 😀
love the new arrangement…
