So it’s been awhile since I’ve just sat down to write. I don’t know where to start. It seems like it’s been such a long time since my brains were in enough order to make sentences. So here’s what’s happening right now. Anna just bit the tips off of some of the comb tines (or whatever they’re called) and is now combing her hair as she climbs up onto the cedar chest to look out the window. She’s pretending her hand is a phone as she chatters away and finishes with “bye” and combs her hair some more. Now she’s trying to clean up a bit of drool she lost as she leaned over a box reading what was printed on it. Razzie is asleep on the easy chair and I got the woodstove a little hot today – it is 77 degrees in the living room. Sure makes a difference when it’s 50 degrees outside instead of 20.

I have piles and piles of clothes next to me. Anybody want to buy baby girl or boy clothes? It’s mostly girl clothes, but I have a nice lot of 3-6 month boy clothes. (I have girl from 0-9 months and some more in 24m and 2T)

Let’s see, what fills my head these days. I have mostly been taking days one at a time, sometimes two… and I don’t retain days that have past in my memory very well. I don’t usually consider myself a “busy” person but I just keep moving from one thing to the next. Today I had six loads of laundry (washing some of the used clothes that smelled a little stale besides washing our own) and three loads of dishes. We have enough leftovers to get us through today and maybe tomorrow. There’s a turkey thawing in the fridge that I’ll bake tomorrow or the next day. I wonder how long turkeys can stay in the fridge before you bake them and I should look up a thawing calculator somewhere. It’s a 14 pounder.

Anna is making both Razzie and I cringe as she combs different hard surfaces, producing a terrible noisee. Windows squeak, windowsills rattle, boxes have their own unique sound.

We are doing cloth diapers these days. That is, today is the second day in a row. Pocket diapers are a bizillion times better when you put a washable liner in them first. After spending almost $100 on just a few diapers (a big box, two small bags on sale and some wipes) I went back to cloth. Gotta stretch those convenient disposables. Anna’s such a big drinker that I have to stuff her diapers with quite a lot of “stuffing” to keep me from having to change her every hour. As it is, I change her only about as frequently as a disposable diaper, but she’s got quite the big bum!

My friend Hollie is shopping for cloth diapers. What is your favorite kind and why?

Today, I don’t like winter. Today, I want summer. Today, I like boys clothes better than girls. I am looking forward to having boys. We haven’t even fostered a baby boy. Did you know that there are whole forums and websites and products devoted to helping parents “determine the sex of their child?” I mean, I won’t get graphic here, but it is really silly. Somebody is making money off of desperate parents. I mean, if you had five or six boys or five or six girls, you might pay somebody who normally you would recognize as a bunch of hooey.

Brian went back to work yesterday after two weeks off. I don’t know how to function without him around. Today is going better than yesterday. Like I said, the dishes got washed and the clothes washed. If only somebody would come by and buy up my clothes! If you hadn’t heard, I bought a bunch of clothes yesterday with the purpose to resell… and the person I bought them from scammed me. That is, there isn’t half the clothes here that she advertised. So hopefully I’ll get a good price for them, although I think I’m out some money regardless. There are some really nice jackets in the pile, so maybe they’ll sell for more. Maybe tonight I’ll take some more pictures and get more up on craigslist.

I am tired and I want to nap. I don’t get to. If I lay down, Anna or Razzie or both of them will climb on top of me. I haven’t done my exercising for today yet. I am thinking I’ll do that when Anna’s in bed. I need to take pictures of these clothes (which are already organized and clean) before I can take them out of the living room and stack them in the office.

Who knows how to divide baby clothes size? Do you put size 0-3 months with the 3 months or do you put them with the NB? How about the 3 months, should they go with the 3-6 months? Why can’t somebody get this straight? And really, even if you did have it sorted like it is supposed to be… would your kid really grow out of them at the same time?

Silly.

The cat is trying to climb into a UPS box that is only three inches tall. Lucky for her, she gave up before she got in.

    lovely.
I food poisoned myself. No one is ever going to eat what I cook ever again.
Really I’m just thinking that a 14 lb turkey should keep your fridge nice and cool so you’ll save energy! Amazing!

I was so mad that the one trip I was planning on making out Hillsboro way was cancelled due to the Cools HAVING to do family pictures. Which are going to turn out dumb. and most likely be out dated in a month or so when m&s get preggo (just my guess. not official or anything)
So I’m really mad that we didn’t see each other. Lunch was in my works for the two of our families too until the snow hit. Gr. I just wanted you to know that I had plans for us. But plans are like customer reviews (Jake says that customer reviews are like buckets of you-know-what.) I disagree. I usually find them VERY helpful.

Well. As you know, I really like my BumGenius one size pockets. They’re economical because they grow with baby, they wash & dry nicely (make sure you wash the stuffers in HOT water and dry them really good a few times before using. Something I wish I’d done better.) also, If you use rash cream of any sort that has petrolatum in it use a flushable liner or it will clog the pores of the poly diaper pocket…bad. I’ve had really good luck with BumGenius being able to handle having prefolds stuffed inside the pocket or using the pocket as a diaper cover for the prefolds. I only used the stuffers that came with the diapers & the prefolds. My prefolds came with flushable liners that have lasted since before I had Guy since I didn’t use them regularly (they didn’t help with newborn runs, and older baby/toddler poop falls off easily most of the time with out liners).
Only one diaper has had one side of leg hole elastic break and it hasn’t been a problem as long as I use a prefold as an outer liner instead as a stuffer.

I wanted to try Happy Heiny’s one size pockets, but looking at them now, i think I’m glad I went with BumGenius afterall because the velcro front closure is so much wider & stiffer looking on the Happy Hiney’s.

So that’s my bucket of you-know-what. When I was in the market Kellyscloset.com was cheapest with 30 money back return if you didn’t like BumGenius diapers.

oh and now, wouldn’t you know, kellyscloset is giving 2 stuffers with BumGenius. ARG! MUST. BUY. MORE!

  5. e

AND. It gets worse. They make them with insert stoppers! I want the new ones!

  6. Oh darn, d’Artagnan is almost out of 3-6 months or I’d buy em from you.
I grouped NB and 0-3 together, and 3 and 3-6. But that’s just me.
Oh and some friends of mine followed some Chinese calendar something or the other in order to get the baby boy they wanted. And they got him! …I think it would’ve been funny if they had twin girls 🙂

According to my Vietnamese friend, Anna was born in the year of the Golden Pig, which means we will be very lucky.

After some googling I have two links to offer about Chinese New year.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_calendar
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_calendar_correspondence_table

Rachel was born in 1983, the year of the pig from the previous 60 year cycle, the water pig in fact. Anna was born in 2007, year of the fire pig, (there is some debate about whether 2007 was also a golden year). People born under the pig are honest, prosperous, and happy. According to the internets Chinese families consider it lucky to have children born under the pig.

I was born in 1983 as well, but in January before Chinese new year, so I was born in the year of the water dog. People born under the dog are loyal and compassionate.

Ok lunchbreak is over, back to work for me!

I am not sure what amused me more, the rambling blog, or the rambling comments that followed!

Thanks for all the diaper advice Em, remind me again in June. M y prego brain cannot retain anything at the moment.

Brian I was born on Jan 19 of ’73. What does that make me? (Besides old…)

Hollie you are a power hungry water rat. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rat_(zodiac))

    Rachel is cracking up.
