Our yard doesn’t get a lot of sun… we have two wonderful old trees on either side of the yard… and a strip of good hot sun in between them. We have gardens where they get the most sun, but we’ve still struggled with our sun-loving plants. (that’s tomatoes and peppers mostly) We haven’t had any big “gardening” days this year. I just go out and sit in a lawn chair and do a little bit now and then when it’s sunny and the kids are happy. Our back yard is a wonderful oasis right now! Actually, it’s been raining a lot so it really IS an oasis. Splish, splosh!

- The Jenks had a garage sale to raise money to help their babies get home. We got their tent! It's AWESOME and HUGE. They are urgently in need of funds... their link is to the right.
- I love being the mother of girls!
- Ok - to the garden!!!! Here is a row of peas! 8 plants per 1 foot section. Peppers will be planted in front. Our yard does not get enough hours of sun, but I'm going to try anyway!
- More sprouting snap peas and a whole bunch of carrots! Radishes on the end.
- The plum tree is loaded! I hope even half the crop survives (it thins itself after a few more weeks). Last year was a small year.
- We are no good with grapes. Year six... aggressively pruning this year, but it just keep shooting out more buds!
- Lettuce! Then spinach. Then Chard. (Chard survives the summer heat when the spinach bolts) Tomatoes and squash will grow up the trellis behind this.
- Bok choy is not doing so great. Little tiny onion starts look ok. Our first five tomato plants are planted!
- An unfinished rock path.
- A finished rock path. Not a neat and tidy area, but it's lush and organic and attractive and I love it! (There's some sort of groundcover moss and thyme planted in there.)
- This spot doesn't get much sun at all. But it has nice dirt. So a few peas and a few struggling blueberries are back here.
- I planted these onions from seed last fall. They are like TREES, they are so thick and they are flowering... and they have not balled up on the bottom. Will they? Do I pull them now?
- We have a new back door! Yay! Paid to have somebody else to do it.... literally and figuratively.
- Look - you can almost see the guest bed in the laundry/game/guest/storage room!
- I have not been beyond the wall of storage tubs in the loft for many moons. But I have been throwing clothes, boxes and stuff up there the whole time. It's going to be a big project to clean up, up there!
You’ve got snap peas planted!! I wish I had planted snap peas! All the garden stuff looks great 🙂 Hope your garden is very fruitful for you this summer!
We just got our first little broccoli crown on one of our broccoli plants…and we’re trying to grow corn for the first time this year…we’ll see how it turns out 🙂 Happy Birthday to Jordan, too!
