I don’t normally read history books. I find history interesting and a worthy study but in general books on it leave me feeling, shall we say, asleep. However this book was reviewed on slashdot a while back and since it was offered as a (legitimate) free download I thought I’d go ahead and get it. It sat on my hardrive a while before I remembered it, but when I did, I read the first 100 pages in a day. 🙂 It’s called How We Got Here. It’s a very involved connect-the-dots style tour of history from pre-industrial europe to now. It’s the story of how we got from cottage industry clothing to Google. So give it a shot, it’s free, it’s interesting, and um, well you might just learn something!
Boy I need to work on this site! (what the heck is Abschicken?) But more to the point, I found out that they arn’t offering the book for free anymore. So if anyone is interested in reading you can borrow my copy. Also if you ever see the above email address (etothej2pi) don’t write to it. It’s my junk email. I’m going to make it not a requirement to posting comments very soon.
