Adoption, Chicks, Roosters and big girls

First, an adoption update. OUR DOSSIER IS BEING TRANSLATED IN EASTERN EUROPE AT THIS TIME! Yay! I updated the timeline for our current stage in the “Adopting James” link on the sidebar. It looks like we will have the green light to buy tickets by the last week of April if all goes well! What else is exciting is that my parents know a family in James’ country and they have connected us with a pastor in the same city as James and we hope he will be able to find a way for us to stay with a family instead of in a hotel. Now, hotels are comfortable and not stressful. But it’s one of the few chances we’ll have to visit the country of James’ roots and we want to know as much about the place, people and culture as we can, so we can tell him about it. So I hope that works out!

On to chicks and roosters. Here’s a picture of our four cute chicks sleeping together the other day:

We have lovingly called one of the black chicks “spot” because of the spot on her forehead. We looked it up. A spot means she is a he. A rooster! AHHHH!! Luckily, the store said we could take Spot back and trade him for something that lays eggs and doesn’t crow all day. Whew!

Bye-bye spot! Here is a picture of their new home. Brian put together some plywood that is old towel sized. They love it. The box in there shows how big their old home was.

Here are some pictures, courtesy of Anna:

See how little the ameracauna chick (Spot replacement) is! I hadn’t realized how much our chicks had grown already:

Stuff on the table… yep!

And lastly, a couple self portraits:

That would be so cool if you got to stay with someone. And how amazing that your parents know someone there?????!!!! Man, small world.

Glad you found out about the man spot early on. Funny!

    Nice toenails Anna.
