One Day

This one is for you, Pat. Could be interesting to graph productivity over time during the day. It might also be interesting to see if it correlates with kids’ needy/grumpy level as the day goes along. Productivity/Parenting… are they at odds? Make a good newspaper article.

What did I do today? (yesterday)

6:20am – Woke up, had breakfast, cleaned up kitchen some
7-7:30am – fixed kids’ breakfasts, fed Jordan
7:30-8am – Read and respond to emails, read blogs, check facebook
8-8:40am – Deskwork (sort mail, balance checking, enter receipts, schedule/cancel appointments for TMJ, ENT, babysitters and craigslist)
8:40-9:20am – Shower, dress, clip fingernails, dress children, change a diaper, wash faces, chivvy the kids in their chores, put away laundry I folded yesterday
9:20-9:45am – More computer time
9:45-11:20am – Trip to library (30 minutes driving, unknown amount of time packing kids in and out of van, getting books and videos, and checking out… not to mention going back inside at the beginning because I forgot the bluetooth, then the stroller, then something else that I forgot.)
11:20-12pm – Prepare lunches, feed Jordan, prepare and eat my own lunch
12-12:30pm – Get kids ready for nap/quiet time (diapers, books, potty runs, crying, rules repeated, etc.)
12:30-1:30pm – Read the book I checked out for myself
1:30-2:30pm – Keep reading the book amidst responding to the girls’ needs (break up arguments, help with swimsuits and kiddie pool, reassure about bees, find towels, etc.)
2:30-4:30pm – Too tired to remember what I did…. just whatever was needed and no more. Spent a lot of time counting my blessings in children and air conditioning. (I normally make dinner around 4pm)
4:30-9pm – Had company! They brought pizza. (Thanks Mom and Dad!) And a pot rack! (WOO HOO!!!) So – cleaned kitchen, played with kids, chatted, fix and eat dinner, get kids ready for bed, hang pot rack, etc.
9pm-10pm Take the dog out, relax and talk.
10pm-11pm – Sleep uninterrupted
11pm-7am – Sleep interrupted. hehe (It was a good night’s rest… we slept in an entire hour too!)

Lol! I have JUST been thinking about charting my day too the last 2 or 3 days!!! It’s hard for me to notice the clock and take a second to jot down admist the running around though! haha. Have you put together an excel sheet for how much you earn every day? (Daycare/Cook/Maid/Teacher/Etc.?) THAT would be interesting too. 🙂

Wait one second! How come I don’t see “Brian helps out” anywhere in the log? I know he’s at home on Fridays…Oh, wait, there he is, sleeping on the couch 🙂
