To Brian, to all dads

Brian may have been taking care of all the big kids, plus me, plus the housework for nearly a week straight, but still I hear him getting the kids to laugh. Here’s to all the amazing dads out there who make the world go round. Brian, you are my hero… now and always!

Can you believe Carolyn is a week old today??? Hooray! That means I should be mostly recovered in just one more week! Pretty soon, I will be able to HUG all of my family again. Especially looking forward to snuggling up to my man again. (It takes about two weeks, if I remember right, for my… er… upper-body pain to go mostly away.)

Carolyn is laying on my lap, totally content. Four hour naps plus dinner do that to a kid. She has been taking the longest naps in the afternoon and it’s been testing my “don’t wake a sleeping baby” rule as I worry she’ll be awake all night after sleeping so much. Glad I didn’t wake her yesterday – last night was the best sleep yet. (No rocking required, no crying… just nurse, burp and reswaddle every few hours)

Hey! I just changed that diaper. Twice! Poop all at once, why don’t you!? It’s a good thing we’re switching to cloth diapers in another week or so… you’re going through these disposables like gangbusters!

Jordan cries outside the laundry room every time we do laundry. He wants to lean on the washing machine when it runs. But the chicks are in there, so he’s banned. He also cries outside of the bathroom while the girls are taking baths, because he wants back in. And he cries when he wants out of his booster seat and into the bath after dinnertime. He’s communicating! Effectively! Now……. to work on new forms of communication, because the lawn-mower whine and cries are getting old. 🙂

Oh good grief! Another poopy diaper!?? And I even waited twenty minutes to change the second one to make sure you were done! This one is going to require an entire wardrobe change. haha But somehow, as she sits here and stares at me… she is still 100% adorable.

While I sat on the couch and snuggled Carolyn, Brian did the dishes, bathed the children, got them all ready for bed, practiced memory verses, Read a Bible study, tucked them in bed, made up their bedtime story, rocked a crying Jordan, stopped a dozen fights and answered a million questions. Brian is definitely the hero of the week! Hero of the year perhaps and definitely MY hero. I can’t wait until I’m feeling better so I can help him out. But for now…. just loving the cared for feeling. Ahhhhhhhh
