An Unexpected Adventure

This time, the adventure isn’t mine.

Close to the equator!

My parents are moving to Uganda, Africa.

You heard that right.

Their house is rented, their jobs are covered, the furniture not needed by the renting family (Hello, Smiths!) is being offered to us kids.
And they are going to be diving into culture shock on the other side of the world.

Because God has led them there. Because there is a need for somebody to help coordinate details for heart surgeries that my cousins, who live in Beijing Lynsay and Bill Lewis are arranging with their non-profit Morning Star Foundation. You started our family on a path of radical living, Lewises!

They’ll spend some time with Paul Hunter and Pam Hunter, I’m sure, but will be living in a different city.

And that, my friends, is what you call and unexpected announcement from your parents.

Please pray for them as they take this leap of faith.

Please pray for us all as we miss each other. I cannot think about this part much.

This seems to be happening quickly. They leave early September and will stay about a year. Really, they are staying as long as God will have them there. That’s just the plan.

Amazing! Keeping you all in our prayers. So glad we were able to see your dad in UG during his last trip that prompted this new move!;)

Your parents are a blessing to us. In so many ways! We will have to stick together as our parents travel the world. 🙂

  4. Whoa, that is SO AMAZING!!!! I’m super excited for them! This is completely awesome, what a neat step of faith, and what an incredible journey is ahead of them! Kudos to them for following their Saviour!

Cool! My sister and her husband spent a couple of years in Uganda, living in Entebbe and on the Ssese islands. I understand your prayer requests – especially the one about missing each other, as my family has always been scattered around the globe. For years we were on 3 and then 4 different continents. Now we are all actually in the same country, just spread from one end to the other. (Hugs!) as you face being apart for an unknown length of time.
